Black Sabbath, the acclaimed inventors of heavy metal music have today performed their final live gig.
The band played a two hour set at the band’s home arena, the NEC Arena Birmingham, performing fifteen songs before bowing out with their first ever hit ‘Paranoid.’
Legendary band frontman Ozzy Osbourne discussed the final show and the band’s overall journey, saying: “I remember playing the Crown pub in Birmingham and thinking, ‘This’ll be good for a couple of years – drink a few beers and have a jam’. But it was the beginning of the most incredible adventure you could think of. I’ve had the best life out of it.’
Osborne also said Black Sabbath’s farewell tour was the definitive end, promising: “This is definitely it. It’s run its course.” The band ended with fireworks, ticker-tape and balloons as the band thanked fans for over five decades of support, which has comprised of numerous tours and band break-ups and reunions.
