Adele beat off fierce competition from Beyonce and Drake to win the coveted Album of the Year award at the 2017 Grammys.
25 (Twenty-Five) winning Best album was one of five victories on the night for the British singer, whose raw emotion and natural voice power has often been praised. She also took home the coveted Record of The Year and Song of the Year as well as Best Solo Pop Performance with best-selling worldwide hit ‘Hello’ and Best Pop Vocal Album (25).
Adele was clearly humbled by her victory, and praised her fellows in her acceptance speech, saying: ‘I can’t possibly accept this award,’ before adding, ‘The Lemonade album was just so monumental, Beyoncé. It was so monumental and well thought-out and beautiful and soul-bearing… we appreciate that. All of us artists here adore you. You are our light.’
The artist stunningly then snapped her award into two pieces, which many believe is so she can share the award with the Lemonade artist.
Chance the Rapper won the final major general award, taking home Best New Artist.
