Legendary actress Dame Angela Lansbury is the latest in a list of big names to join the upcoming Mary Poppins Returns.
The 91-year-old has signed up to play ‘Balloon Lady’ in the film, which is due for release in December 2018. Lansbury is no stranger to Disney classics, having starred in Bedknobs and Broomsticks (1971), and voiced the original Mrs Potts in the animated Beauty and the Beast (1991).
Mary Poppins Returns is the sequel to the classic 1964 film, which originally starred Julie Andrews as the cherry flying nanny. Emily Blunt is set to inherit the role, with Andrews’ involvement unconfirmed; though co-star Dick Van Dyke is back, playing the new role of ‘Mr. Dawes Jnr.’ in the film.
Other huge names involved include Ben Whishaw and Emily Mortimor, who will be playing grown-up Michael and Jane, with Meryl Streep, Julie Walters, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Colin Firth completing the star studded line-up.
Mary Poppins Returns is set for release on Christmas Day 2018. Check out the original trailer below:
