A new festival has announced that it will take the site recently vacated by Bestival, as the boutique music festival moves this Autumn to Dorset’s Jurassic Coast. The new festival will also take the early September weekend slot freed up by Bestival’s relocation.
Robin Hill County Park, on the Isle of Wight, will now be home to Eklectica, a similarly boutique festival but apparently with an: “electric twist”, over the weekend of September 9-10. As yet there have been no acts confirmed to perform at the inaugural event, but Robin Hill have promised a: “dynamic mix of music, performances and entertainment”. It is being organised by Vectis Ventures, the company which owns Robin Hill and Blackgang Chine.
Rob da Bank has meanwhile put to bed concerns that Bestival’s move to the Dorset coast could effectively kill off the festival by booking a mix of well-known acts like The xx, Justice, A Tribe Called Quest, and Rag’N’Bone Man, while fears that the festival will have left its motley personality behind will be subdued by the multitude of diverse stages to be showcased at this year’s event, including reggae and Bollywood inspired sets.
