American alternative rock veterans Weezer have announced several UK arena dates and released the first single ‘Feels Like Summer’ from their upcoming 11th studio album, set for release later this year.
From October 23rd to 28th, the band will play the Leeds Academy, the Glasgow O2 Academy, the Manchester O2 Apollo, the Birmingham O2 Academy and the London SSE Wembley Arena, support is yet to be announced but the official tour confirmation on the band’s Facebook page referred to them as a “very special guest”. Pre-sale for the tour begins at 10am on March 22nd.
‘Feels Like Summer’ is the lead single off of their upcoming untitled album, confirmed for a summer release. Frontman Rivers Cuomo last year speculated that the album could have a darker tone and cover more mature topics, leading to speculation of it being The Black Album, continuing on with Weezer’s colour themed self titled albums.
Last year’s eponymous tenth album, commonly referred to as The White Album, earned the band positive reviews and a Grammy Award nomination, helping to continue the band’s revival of recent years after their 2014 album Everything Will Be Alright in the End.
Cuomo has also taken to Twitter to reveal some pieces of inside information on the band’s plans for the new album:
I turned in 13 + demos today

He also teased a potential special appearance at this year’s Reading Festival:
