Despite recent claims by her brother, the president of Lucasfilm has confirmed that Carrie Fisher won’t be appearing in Star Wars Episode IX.
After Fisher’s tragic passing late last year, there were questions about Princess Leia’s role in future Star Wars films. While Lucasfilm was quick to deny rumours that the actress would be digitally recreated in upcoming movies, Todd Fisher shocked fans when he claimed she would be appearing in Star Wars Episode IX.
However, it seems his comments weren’t entirely correct.
Talking to ABC News at Star Wars Celebration, Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy confirmed that Fisher would not feature in Episode IX. While she reconfirmed that Leia will feature heavily in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Kennedy is clear that that Episode IX’s scripts were rewritten after Fisher’s death.
