One of the most heart-breaking songs of the century ‘Born to Make You Happy’ reached number one in the UK 20 years ago, on 29th January 2000. ‘Born to Make You Happy’ deals with a toxic side of romance which is echoed throughout previous singles like ‘…Baby One More Time’ and later single ‘Oops!… I Did It Again’. It is perfect for those who are going through a rough break-up, especially when you thought they were the one. But it could also be for those who want to shed a few tears to a noughties classic. It is catchy with a strong pre-chorus “if only you were here tonight, I know that we could make it right”, which truthfully makes me cry. In true Britney tradition theres lots of ‘oohhs’ and ‘yeah yeahs’ to get you ready to belt your heart out to this iconic tune.
