It has been over a year since the release of the critically-acclaimed Fall To Grace – Paloma Faith’s second album – and she has now premiered her new single ‘Can’t Rely On You’.
Faith did warn us that she was going to “screw the hard stuff” on her upcoming album and this is certainly shown through the fun, pop beats that dominate her new track. We can clearly see the huge influence that Pharrell Williams – who is currently topping the charts with his single ‘Happy’ – has had on the track that you can almost hear distant echoes of the controversial ‘Blurred Lines’. Although the new sound is slightly shocking, it is stirring much excitement amongst fans regarding Faith’s developed sound.
The video for ‘Can’t Rely On You,’ released earlier today, consists of Faith talking in Italian at the beginning and the end of the video and also contains many religious references. The video is also more artistically focused than her previous releases but still holds her flaming hair and slightly avant-garde fashion at the forefront.
Faith’s two previous studio albums fell within the top 10 in the UK, and both have now been certified double platinum.
‘Can’t Rely On You’ – to be released on 23rd February – is the lead single from her upcoming third album, The Perfect Contradiction. This is to be released on 3rd March.
