Half Moon Run offer their album Sun Leads Me On this week, following 2012’s Dark Eyes, with a return from the piano playing Vanessa Carlton too. The single sides of things are headed by new music from feel-good band Clean Cut Kid, and a new Sigma collaboration.
Chilled out Canadian indie group, Half Moon Run, will release their second album, Sun Leads Me On, this week. With comparisons made to Foals, this new release could be very successful. Their track ‘Trust’ which is to be on the new album, is edgy , upbeat, electronic and ambient. Out Via Glassnote Records.
You may know Vanessa Carlton’s one hit wonder, ‘A Thousand Miles’ which shot to fame in the early 00’s. Liberman is Carlton’s fifth studio album, named after her great grandfather. With a slightly new sound, could Carlton rise to fame once more? Out Via Dine Alone Records.
Mischievous teen heartthrobs, 5 Seconds of Summer are set to release their second studio album, Sounds Good Feels Good. Their huge single ‘She’s Kinda Hot’ has been met with predictions that the band could be the next big thing in pop-punk, especially since the track was co-written by Good Charlotte’s Madden brothers. Out Via Capitol Records.
‘Runaway’ follows the release of Clean Cut Kid’s infectious track ‘Vitamin C’. The Liverpool quartet’s latest offering springs into action with a racing beat, combining the husband and wife’s vocals that beautifully offset each other. Perhaps not as catchy as ‘Vitamin C’, but give it time. Out via Polydor.
Droning, distorted vocals introduce listeners to ‘Pears For Lunch’ by Girl Band. Stemming from their debut album Holding Hands With Jamie, the track repeats “I don’t know what she wants” as it becomes desperate and raw. A little bit jarring, but nonetheless an interesting listen. Out via Rough Trade.
Sigma are back again this week, this time collaborating with Diztortion and Jacob Banks for ‘Redemption’. The track is fuelled by the soulful vocals of Jacob Banks, with the statement Sigma racing tempo, with soaring climaxes. Out via 3 Beat Productions.
