This week sees a posthumous return of Jeff Buckley with unreleased material on You and I, as well as the debut from Scandinavian AURORA. Izzy Bizu is set to follow up her catchy debut ‘White Tiger’ with ‘Mad Behaviour’, and there is new music from White Balance.
You and I is a compilation of rarities and demos from Jeff Buckley, who passed away in 1997. The 10 previously unreleased tracks has emerged almost 20 years after his death, and features covers of Bob Dylan’s ‘Just Like A Woman’ and The Smiths’ ‘The Boy With The Thorn In His Side’ as well as demo versions of ‘Grace’ and ‘Dream of You and I’. It is already available to stream here. Out via Columbia.
AURORA, made famous by her cover of Oasis’ ‘Half the World Away’ that featured on the John Lewis Christmas advert, will release her debut album All My Demons Greeting Me As A Friend. Likely to be aligned with singer songwriters like Birdy, AURORA’s recent release ‘Conqueror’ provides a punchy and confidence sound that will hopefully find place on her album. Out via Decca.
Following the success of single ‘White Tiger’, Izzy Bizu is releasing ‘Mad Behaviour’. Having posted a live clip of the singer performing the song online, the young singer has proved herself incredibly talented. The song was written when Izzy was only 19 years old. Out Via Epic Records.
Drawing inspiration from Purity Ring and Oh Land, Finnish Duo, White Balance are debuting ‘Hunter’ this week. The track is ambient with sweet-serenading vocals, on the subject of late-night thoughts. The track follows the previous release of ‘Flock’. The music video is soon to be released. Out Via VILD.
Foals are releasing ‘Birch Tree‘ as a single this week off their latest album ‘What Went Down’. Foals were recently featured in NME after news was received that the band hitch-hiked to the Brits, eventually being picked up by a Pizza delivery driver. The band were nominated for Best British Group Out Via Transgressive Records.
