Australian singer-songwriter Vance Joy (real name James Keogh) has released his new single ‘Mess is Mine’ along with its video online. He has also announced his debut album Dream Your Life Away, which will be released in September.
In his newsletter, Vance Joy announced that he finished his debut album and released the track list of the 13 track album, with ‘Mess is Mine’ being the second track and 2 tracks from his aforementioned debut EP (‘Riptide’, ‘From Afar’).
He was introduced to the world with his hit ukulele driven single ‘Riptide‘ released in 2013 from his debut EP God Loves You When You’re Dancing. The single was chosen and voted by the listeners of Australian radio station Triple J as number 1 on the 2013 Triple J Hottest 100 list.
‘Mess is Mine’ is a bittersweet folky tune. Joy said the song is one of the more direct love songs he has written. The song is about “when you’re in love with someone, you take on the whole package [that person brings]. It’s messy, but the mess of life is the good thing. The special thing about relationships is taking on the good and the bad and the messy aspects.”
Vance Joy is headling a UK and Europe tour from this September. A full list of tour dates here.
