Detroit Social Club – Northern Man

For a band that seem to have slipped under the radar since the release of their debut album earlier this year, Detroit Social Club’s third single, ‘Northern Man’, is an unexpected surprise. The song is a powerfully moving contribution from a band with a lot of passion in their lyrics, beautifully layered on a vast orchestral backdrop with soulful Richard Ashcroft-esque vocals screaming from the rousing music. The track has proved itself as a festival favourite over the summer and it’s clear to see why, with the piercing staccato violin introduction shrieking at you just before that incredible collective sound of both strings and the band is heard, reaching mammoth levels as the song progresses. This is definitely a song to get your hands on, from a band who really will be making a huge impact over the next year.
