A question that has been on the music press’ lips lately is – “Where are all the new guitar bands?”, well I think the call may have been answered. The Vaccines released their first single this month and they are on the verge of becoming the next big thing. Comparisons to the likes of the Arctic Monkey‘s have been thrown round but ‘Wreckin’ Bar’ shows much more promise than that. It is short and sweet at 1 minute 44 seconds, but it packs a punch. Jesus & Mary Chain fuzz covers a speedy “Dick Dale meets The Ramones” arrangement with a catchy Ra-Ra-Ra refrain coming off like a mix between Crystal Stilts’ debut record and The Clash’s White Riot. All of this glued together with a confidence way beyond their years to create one of the most succinct and exciting singles ready to break the mainstream in a long while. Get ready to see The Vaccines everywhere.
