Enter Shikari are an act that seemingly divide opinions – often their sound is too diverse, encompassing so many varying styles that it’s difficult to classify them, and new release, ‘Destabilise’, is no different. Pushing the definition of what it means to be a post-hardcore act to a greater degree, ‘Destabalise’ draws upon dubstep, pop, free-jazz, marching band, disco and rock with a sound that is quite frankly, exceptional. It’s big and bold, with a chorus that wouldn’t sound out of place on the soundtrack to a big blockbuster release – you can almost see Transformers 3, with the robots clashing in space whilst Rout’s vocals seer over the airwaves. If ‘Destabilise’ is anything to go by, album number three will be one of the most exciting releases on the hardcore scene for a long time. Simply awesome.
