With a perfect example of lazy, second-rate song writing, Caned & Able arrive to abuse our ears with ‘Monkey Song’, the new single from their upcoming debut album. Offering only its meaty synth bassline as any hope of musical appeal, the track aims to please those simple minded people who eagerly nod their heads at the slightest glimmer of anything remotely catchy, no doubt referring to the song as an “absolute tune” and thus giving it the positive response it in no way deserves. When coupled with a poor-man’s Shaggy rapping nonsensically about changing traffic lights and committing the musical sin of intentional lyrical corrections – “did I say rolly peasy? I meant rolly polly” – the only rational response to this song must be to stop playing it at once.
