Yes, the latest Matt Cardle single has it all. Written by the Take That talisman, it bears all the marks that made ‘The Flood’ one of the best pop songs of last year, and ‘Run for Your Life’ is in the same league in terms of quality. Cardle’s delivery is warm in the verses and triumphant during the chorus, and while the lyrics (“Run for your life/Run for your life/If you leave me behind/You’ll get there in time”) hardly say anything new, sometimes all a great pop song needs are words you can remember. An absolute belter.
