The Dancing Shoes describe themselves as a 4 piece Alternative/Hard Rock band from Southampton. They have just released their first demo, which consists of the tracks ‘On the Hook’ and ‘There Goes the Neighbourhood’. The first track ‘On the Hook’ is packed full of punchy guitar riffs that are sure to make you sit up and take notice. It finishes with an intense guitar solo that is reminiscent of the likes of Red Hot Chili Peppers in the good old days when John Frusciante was a necessary component.
‘There Goes the Neighbourhood’ has clearly been influenced by the likes of Arctic Monkeys. With lyrics such as ‘anarchy never looked so good’, hints of Sex Pistols trickle through. This track is raucous and a little rough around the edges but this only adds to its charm.
So The Dancing Shoes definitely have potential. These boys have clearly thought carefully about these tracks and the end result isn’t displeasing at all. With a little work and some further refinement of their sound The Dancing Shoes will be able to firmly cement themselves in the local Southampton music scene.
