The indie folk trio Daughter are back, with the release of the gorgeous ‘Youth’. It’s the third single to be released from their debut album If You Leave, and is arguably their strongest offering yet.
Elena Tonra’s rich vocals captivate the listener and are accompanied by the brooding instrumentals that guide the track through unusual chord progressions and harmonies. The build of the track is gradual and paced, really adding to the climax of the bridge; and this too is enhanced by Tonra’s vocals soaring effortlessly into her upper range for the first time in the song.
The music video for ‘Youth’ is equally as classy, in black and white featuring the band playing and being lit up by spotlights. Although simple, it’s incredibly effective, and matches the mood of the track perfectly. Definitely worth checking out!
