If you haven’t already heard of RHODES, you will do soon. Having been announced as support for both Sam Smith and London Grammar in the coming months, with tours with Laura Marling, Vance Joy, Nick Mulvey, and Rufus Wainwright already under his belt and support from the likes of Radio 1, XFM and NME, he’s definitely a name to remember.
‘Your Soul’ is the stunning lead single from his second EP Morning, which will be released in May. It’s a completely gorgeous track, with soaring vocals, rolling percussion and jittering guitar lines. The simple piano chords resonate and echo throughout, being held till the very end of each note and complimenting the vocal lines. ‘Your Soul’ is a track that builds from nothing, the instrumentation and dynamics gradually grow and grow until they culminate in the colossal climax of the track, until, as quickly as it built up, the layers fade away back down to a simple piano and vocal duo.
‘Your Soul’ shows why RHODES is a force to be reckoned with, and serves as an exciting taster to his May release.
