Lily Allen has premiered her new single ‘Air Balloon’.
The track is the second cut to be taken from her, as yet untitled, third album.
‘Air Balloon’ received its first play on the BBC Radio 1 breakfast show with Nick Grimshaw this morning. Talking to the presenter, Lily Allen unveiled that the single was written and recorded in Sweden, and she said “I know it’s good”.
Last week, BBC Radio 1 sparked rumours about the track after it briefly appeared as ‘Track Of The Day’ for 13th January on their online playlist. Allen seemed to confirm the track by posting a picture of a hot air balloon on her Instagram page.
Her previous single ‘Hard Out Here‘ stirred controversy in November as it attempted to tackle the issue of sexism in the music industry’. The track peaked at number nine, while her cover of Keane’s ‘Somewhere Only We Know‘ for the John Lewis Christmas advert became the singer’s third number one single, spending three weeks at the top spot.
The video for ‘Air Balloon’ is currently being recorded in South Africa.
It was recently announced that new music from Lily Allen will feature in season three of HBO’s Girls which will begin on Sky Atlantic on 20th January.
Earlier this week, it was confirmed that Lily Allen will headline the City Rocks charity event in the Royal Albert Hall in April.
‘Air Balloon’ will be released on 2nd March.
