Set to be released almost 14 years after Jurassic Park III back in 2001, the fourth film in the Jurassic Park franchise, Jurassic World, has been confirmed, of which Universal Pictures has given the official release date of 12th June 2015.
The most recent news about this long awaited sequel to the Jurassic Park films, is that Law & Order: Criminal Intent actor Vincent D’Onofrio and Life of Pi actor Irrfan Khan, have been confirmed as the villains. Other confirmed cast members include Chris Pratt (Moneyball), Bryce Dallas Howard (The Help), Ty Simpkins (Iron Man 3), Jake Johnson (New Girl) and Nick Robinson (The Kings of Summer).
The upcoming fourth film is currently being filmed in Hawaii, in the same jungle as the original Jurassic Park. Its plot is being kept under wraps however there are plenty of rumours circulating the internet. One of these rumours suggests that Jurassic World will feature the present day Isla Nublar, where the theme park originally intended by John Hammond in the first film, is fully functioning…until something inevitably goes wrong. There are also rumours of a lagoon section to the theme park featuring aquatic dinosaurs, and speculation as to which dinosaur will be the major villain.
Director Colin Trevorrow has only confirmed that Jurassic World “is a new sci-fi terror adventure set 22 years after the horrific events of Jurassic Park.” He has given no indication of the plot or which dinosaurs will be included, but has sparked the debate after saying the film will feature a different dinosaur villain than the other films and described it in a recent interview as “pretty badass!”
We still have over a year to wait, but the excitement amongst the press and Jurassic Park fans is already beginning to rocket in anticipation for this epic adventure.
