The original Star Wars cast are to officially return for the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII, it has finally been announced.
The news, shown on the official Stars Wars website, reveals that Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker are to reprise their original roles for the latest instalment of the film series.
They are to be joined by John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson and Max von Sydow in the Disney sequel.
JJ Abrams, the director of the long-awaited sequel, has said: “We are so excited to finally share the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII.” He added that, “it is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again.”
The screenplay, co-written by both Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan, is planned to come to life on screens in December 2015, with filming starting in a couple of weeks.
