Lilly Wood and German electronic music producer Robin Schulz have climbed an astonishing 114 places in the singles charts, now claiming the top spot with Schulz’s remix of ‘Prayer in C’. The remix which is a re-release of the original 2010 track has knocked David Guetta’s ‘Lovers On The Sun (feat. Sam Martin)’ down to third place.
Meanwhile, Maroon 5’s latest single ‘Maps’ debuts in second place. The single features on the band’s recent album V, which also includes ‘Animals’ and a collaboration with Gwen Stefani titled ‘My Heart is Open’ co-written by singer-songwriter Sia.
Following its recent release, Sam Smith’s ‘I’m Not The Only One’ has climbed eight places putting it in the top 10. The single is accompanied by a video featuring Glee‘s Dianna Agron and The Mindy Project’s Chris Messina which portrays the song’s theme of infidelity.
Elsewhere, Taylor Swift’s ‘Shake It Off‘ and Ed Sheeran’s ‘Don’t’ remain in fourth and eighth place respectively. New entry ‘Rari WorkOut’ by Lethal Bizzle featuring JME and Tempa T enters the singles chart in 11th position.
In the album chart, Brighton-based duo Royal Blood claim top spot with their self-titled debut record. Having sold 66,000 copies in the last week, the album is the fastest selling British rock début in three years; the last being Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. This is a huge achievement for the duo who have made an impressive live image of themselves having performed at an array of festivals this year.
Kate Bush has also performed outstandingly in this week’s charts, having set a new record after becoming the first female artist in UK history to have eight simultaneous albums in the Top 40. Compilation album The Whole Story and Hounds of Love are in the top 10, along with her debut album The Kick Inside which sits in 24th place. The news follows the successful start to her Before The Dawn live shows; her first in over 35 years.
Elsewhere in the albums chart, Ariana Grande’s highly-anticipated second album My Everything debuts in third place. Britain’s Got Talent‘s winner Collabro, have been knocked down three places with their album Stars, sitting comfortably in the top 5.
