As part of a new feature, Radio 1 Rescores, Zane Lowe has reimagined 2011’s Drive’s soundtrack. The new score features covers from Foals, Chvrches, SBTRKT, Bastille, The 1975, to name a few.
Directed by Nicolas Winding Refn, Drive falls into the neo-noir crime thriller genre. With Ryan Gosling starring as an unnamed protagonist who works as a getaway driver by night, the character’s troubles that spark the plot begin when he helps his neighbour. The film also stars Carey Mulligan and Bryan Cranston.
With an original soundtrack – composed by Cliff Martinez – that is regarded as being so crucial to the audience’s experience of Drive, it will be exciting to see the effect of such a transformation. Refn has spoken of the project as being an “honour” to his cult hit.
Drive, featuring its reimagined soundtrack, will be shown on BBC3 at 10pm on 30th October 2014. Watch the trailer below.

It was rubbish and Zane Lowe is a walking ego who shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near music.
