From the producers of Harry Potter, Paul King adapts Michael Bond’s fondly remembered children’s books for the screen.
Colin Firth was originally set to voice Paddington, but has been replaced since his departure from the role. Instead we have Skyfall’s Ben Wishaw as the voice of the bear, who finds himself away from his Peruvian settings and on an adventure with a family in London. Director Paul King has, thankfully, maintained the blue coat and red hat of Paddington that we all know and love.
Ben Wishaw aside, the film has a star-studded cast. Featuring Jim Broadbent, Sally Walters and Imelda Staunton, who will all be recognised from their roles in Harry Potter, it is clear where the film came from. Also starring Nicole Kidman as the evil museum collector of the film, and Doctor Who’s Peter Capaldi as the next door neighbour who is not overly happy to have a bear living in his street.
Paddington, released on 28th November, will be a heartfelt and comical homage to the books that many will remember from their childhood, with a few twists and turns along the way.
