It has been announced that the Red Hot Chili Peppers are going to headline the Main Stage at the Isle of Wight Festival.

Their performance on the Saturday night of the festival will be their only live date in the UK or Ireland this year, and their first UK festival appearance since 2007.

The Isle of Wight festival takes place from the 12th to 15th of June at Seaclose Park, and tickets for the event are on sale now from the festivals official website.

Speaking about the festival, the band said: “To headline the Isle of Wight Festival is a once in a lifetime opportunity, following in the footsteps of Jimi Hendrix and The Doors. When we were offered the slot, we jumped at the chance…it will be our only show in the UK/Ireland this year…so we intend to make it really special.”

The band will join the likes of Calvin Harris, Biffy Clyro (who will headline the Friday Main Stage), Rudimental, Passenger, The 1975 and The Waterboys.
