The last stop on the UK part of Trivium’s Vengeance Falls tour brings them, accompanied by Killswitch Engage, to the 02 Guildhall in Southampton on 7th of February. This is to be their last show in the UK before they return for Download Festival later this year.
Trivium and Killswitch Engage have a fairly long history together as tour mates. It’s astonishing to see how far Trivium have come; nearly a decade ago, it was they who were opening for Killswitch. Trivium in some ways have been victimized by their own success, unable to replicate the overwhelmingly positive reception of 2005’s Ascendency. Vengeance Falls is certainly in no danger of reinventing the wheel, but it’s a solid record and metalcore fans heading to the show at the Guildhall are certainly in for a treat.
Like most metal bands that have existed for any significant length of time, Trivium have made their fair share of line-up changes, with Vocalist and rhythm guitarist Matt Heafy being the only remaining original band member. The rest of the band is Corey Beaulieu (lead guitar, vocals), Paolo Gregoletto (bass, vocals) and Nick Augusto (drums). Trivium might not have hit the lofty trajectory that was projected for them ten years ago, but that doesn’t stop them from continuing to release good material and play excellent live shows.
