V Festival is this year entering its 19th year, with the festival during its time having hosted a wide range of different acts. Taking place over the weekend of the 16th and 17th August, both Hylands Park in Chelmsford, Essex, and Weston Park in Staffordshire will play host to the popular music festival.
Headliners in previous years have included Kings of Leon, Calvin Harris, The Killers and Beyoncé to name but a few. And whilst the festival may have transitioned more towards pop music, with Reading and Leeds Festivals taking up the ‘rock’ mantle, there is still a huge variety of music to keep all but the most ardent music fan well satisfied.
This year, the two big headliners across the weekend have been billed as Justin Timberlake and The Killers. These two are sure to be huge crowd-pleasers, and amongst the other acts already announced include Ed Sheeran, who will presumably be showcasing his new album out in June, Example who also has his album out in June, Elbow, Bastille, Paolo Nutini and Lily Allen. For the dance enthusiasts, also gracing V Festival with their presence are Alesso, Rudimental, and a Chase & Status DJ set.
Dispersed throughout the line-up are also a few throwbacks to the past, with Blondie already announced, The Human League and All Saints. The Magic Numbers are also performing a set that will likely prove to be the highlight of the weekend (this remains to be seen). Following his hugely successful year, after performing Get Lucky with Daft Punk, Nile Rodgers has also been booked to feature with Chic, and this will certainly be one of many singalong moments across the weekend.
The music over the event will be spread over four stages at each site, with The Glee Club Comedy Tent returning after its successful outing last year, featuring headline comedians Eddie Izzard and Jon Richardson. However, this year’s headliners have not yet been announced. More artists are set to be announced for all four stages over the next few months as well as which acts will feature on which stage.
Tickets for V Festival are on sale now here with day ticket prices set at £89 and weekend ticket prices starting from £165. As usual, camping tickets are available for the ultimate festival experience. The full line-up for the festival can be found here and will be updated with new acts as and when they are announced.
