Sidmouth FolkWeek takes place on the East Devon coast, and is certainly a well established and must-see live music and entertainment event – it’s been happening every year in the first week of August since 1955! This year is the 60th one, and with a range of things to see and do including larger concerts, smaller intimate gigs, ceilidh dancing and lively roots parties, there is certainly something for everyone to enjoy. Check out some videos of the event here.
We got a quote from regular Sidmouth FolkWeek visitor Catherine Tarrant to give us a summary of FolkWeek. She said “I’ve been going to Sidmouth pretty much every year since I can remember. My parents have been going for more than twenty years and some of my earliest memories are of Sidmouth. My summer doesn’t feel complete without the festival, the place, the people, the pubs. Lest we forgot the music, which is everywhere you go, from seeing big names at the ham marquee to the joining in with a jam in a public house. With a folk scene revival, I feel it It is about keeping folk music alive and bringing it to a new generation.”
