After releasing the hauntingly beautiful album Haul Away in April this year, Manchester born and raised folk musician Liz Green is treating fans to a free gig at Pie and Vinyl record café, Portsmouth. With an emotional voice and strong lyrics, Liz Green will make for an impressive performance at this intimate one-off session in the UK’s first record café.
Prior to the release of Haul Away, Liz Green received the Emerging Talent award at 2007’s Glastonbury Festival thanks to her unique talent which transports you back to the era of music that was emotional and raw. Gaining recognition, she released O’Revolution in 2011 with London based label PIAS, featuring two singles ‘Midnight Blues’ and ‘Displacement Song.’
When you listen to Liz Green’s music, you cannot help but succumb to the relaxed yet powerful voice that leaves you with an unexplained connection with the artist. In a venue as small and atmospheric as Pie and Vinyl, I can say with confidence that this is a session not to be missed, and once you enter the café you will not want to leave- whether that is to eat pie, buy vinyl, or simply continue listening to Liz Green’s unique voice.
