Southampton Music in the City will take you on a journey “from Guildhall to Shieldhall”, as the two day free music festival explores local music in unusual places. Organisers are promising a wealth of talent with performances from artists from a diverse range of backgrounds and genres, including Blues, Bebop, Jazz, Reggae, Classical and Punk.
The music festival offers a unique chance to experience music in Southampton as you never have before, with performances taking place in a variety of venues steeped in history, culminating to create a truly unique atmosphere. Venues of note include a number of Southampton’s medieval vaults, open air spaces at Holyrood Church and Guildhall Square, intimate sets, and aboard the Shieldhall, Britain’s oldest working steamboat, at Dock Gate 4. Those familiar to the festival will also note the welcome addition of Platform Tavern and Metticks Tea and Coffee House to the superb roster of venues.
Entry to all Music in the City venues is free, and a bus system has also been organised for the Saturday to allow free travel between all the venues, which are situated around the city-centre.
