Formed in 2013 and comprising of bassist and vocalist Mike Kerr and drummer Ben Thatcher, Royal Blood are the new and exciting act who are punching a rock-shaped hole in the pop dominated music scene of today.
Released in August their self-titled debut album peaked at number one and features stand out singles such as ‘Out of the Black’, ‘Figure It Out’ and ‘Little Monster’. The ‘grungy’ sound brings many comparisons to mind, covering a spectrum of everything from Led Zeppelin to Deap Vally (an all-male version of course) Royal Blood are the stand out act of 2014.
Having supported Arctic Monkeys at their Finsbury Park gig earlier this year in May, they have gone from strength to strength with the Sheffield quartet being big advocates of their work. To add to their live performance list the duo have performed sets at Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds and BBC Radio One’s Big Weekend – setting them up perfectly for their own headlining tour this winter.
Playing Portsmouth’s Pyramids Centre on 10th November is one of the many dates on this sold out tour which includes stops in Manchester, Sheffield and London; they will also be returning to Portsmouth once again early next year to embark on their UK second tour. If their previous live performances and album are anything to go by Royal Blood’s tour is set to be something special.
Tickets for this tour are now sold out, however there are tickets available for UK dates next year here.
