Gerard Way is about to embark on his anticipated UK tour. After the split of theatrical rockers My Chemical Romance, Way has embraced a new musical direction. Is it still rock? Yes. Is it still kooky? Of course. This would not be Way’s creation if not for an eccentric approach, for example the input of Lola, his pink and fluffy cartoon assistant. Way’s latest album, Hesitant Alien, is a more Indie sounding offering. This is no surprise as Way embraces his Britpop influences, layering up fuzzy guitar sounds with lyrical inspiration from maestros Jarvis Cocker and David Albarn.
After Way’s successful and immensely popular set from Reading and Leeds 2014, Way will be touring most of Europe, including three dates in the UK. Way will be taking over Birmingham’s O2 Academy, Southampton’s O2 Guildhall and London’s Brixton Academy from January 20th-23rd.
No Devotion, comprised of former Lostprophets band mates and vocalist Geoff Rickly, will be supporting Way alongside their own dates around the UK. Expect some melodic electro-rock, ideal for Gerard Way’s fans and those of The Killers. Their new album is due for release early this year. Box sets of their singles, including ‘Stay’ are available now.
