Takedown Festival returns to Southampton for its fourth year on Saturday 7th March, after being launched in 2012. Taking place in the Students’ Union, Takedown is one of the smaller festivals of its kind, but this intimacy makes for even more of an exciting atmosphere, particularly with its renowned aftershow party, Uprawr, which lets festival-goers and bands alike carry on the fun into the small hours.
This year’s lineup offers something for everyone, featuring acts from acoustic solo artist Charlie Simpson to Glasgow metallers Bleed From Within. Headlining the event this year are Mallory Knox, who scored a top 20 album with their second record, 2014’s Asymmetry. Essex alt-rockers InMe will also appear at the festival, playing their 2003 classic Overgrown Eden in full.
Elsewhere are the theatrical, eclectic Fearless Vampire Killers, and Baby Godzilla. The latter being known for their hectic, intense live performances, they are sure to be a treat to watch. As a festival that prides itself on showcasing new music, Takedown’s lineup features a plethora of up and coming bands. Among these are goth-punks Ashestoangels and Tunbridge Wells quartet Ugly Love, both of whom are returning to Takedown after playing last year. The festival also welcomes newcomers Fort Hope and emo rockers Moose Blood, who are certainly not to be missed. Formed in 2012, the Canterbury-based quintet are quickly rising in popularity, clearly in possession of some serious future potential.
Tickets for Takedown Festival 2015 are available here at the price of £40, or £44 with entry to Uprawr.
