Arguably the worst kept secret in the UK festival calendar, Secret Garden Party is the home of happenings, performances and eccentricities. Since its inception in 2004, the festival has developed an ever widening support base thanks to its penchant for welcoming madness and hilarity. This year’s outing will ensue from the 23rd-26th July in the Cambridgeshire countryside near Abbots Ripton.
Atop the lineup are Jungle, The Cat Empire, and Caravan Palace, but highlights extend far beyond the selection of acts thanks to a plethora of activities on offer to keep creatives occupied. An enormous Saturday night firework display and the spectacular Sunday paint fight are just a couple of the wonders the Secret Garden Party has in store.
The Secret Garden Party is quite unlike almost every other festival in the way that it encourages you, the festival-goer, to participate in the shaping of events over the weekend. Action Camps encourage the creation of spontaneous adventures and with this year’s theme of “Childish Things”, I can imagine proceedings will quickly become suitably silly. It’s thanks to its ethos of celebrating all things wild and free, that the festival enjoys a reputation as a favorite among artists too. But, be warned before packing – fancy dress is essentially obligatory.
From the Colosillyium to the Bearded Kitten, the inspired stages and areas of Secret Garden create an unrivaled adult playground. Expect mad-cap contraptions aplenty as the creative team pull out all the stops to bring you the most immersive festival experience that you can imagine.
Due to its popularity, Secret Garden Party 2015 has already sold out.
