Preview: The Big Feastival

0

Started in 2011 by Jamie Oliver, The Big Feastival is the ultimate taste festival. With a huge focus on high quality gastronomy, all with a family friendly atmosphere, this is the perfect festival for those who want a bit more than just music. Held on Oliver’s pal Alex James’ cheese farm in Oxfordshire, the weekend will feature appearances from the who’s who of the gastronomy world, including Raymond Blanc, Gizzi Erskine and the man himself, Jamie Oliver. With a plethora of food based activities, there’s never a quiet moment, whether you want to enjoy a supper club banquet or take a trip down to Alex James’ cheese hub (where it’s promised that cheese aficionados can “discover the world of cheese through presentations, talks and tastings”).

New for this year is a Health Living Zone, which is dedicated to healthy eating and wellbeing. This will host talks and tutorials from bloggers Hemsley + Hemsley and Deliciously Ella, as well as lively debates and Q&A session with leading health lifestyle advocates. There’ll also be appearances from pop-up restauranteurs The Art of Dining who’ll bring their ‘Gone Camping’ dining experience to The Big Feastival.

Not content with merely providing delectable gastronomy, the team have brought in a killer musical line-up. The almighty Groove Armada, Dizzee Rascal and Paloma Faith will all be appearing in headline slots, with pop legend Sophie Ellis- Bextor also appearing on the Sunday. If you want to catch some amazing up-and-comers Flyte, Rae Morris and Hudson Taylor will all be performing. For those who like their music a bit more mainstream both Ella Eyre and Example will be strutting their stuff on the main stage.

If you like your festivals with a food focus, but without sacrificing an amazing array of music, The Big Feastival is for you.

The Big Feastival takes place on 28-30 August on Alex James’ Farm, Kingham, The Cotswolds. Weekend tickets are available from their official website, with camping tickets having sold out.
