Now in its sixteenth year, Blissfields returns with a House Party theme this July. The much-loved festival, which takes place at Vicarage Farm in the Hampshire countryside, combines family friendly events with unmissable acts and an array of activities for all festival-goers to enjoy.
Having welcomed Grammy and Oscar award winner Sam Smith, folk favourites Mumford and Sons, and pioneering hip hop artist Grandmaster Flash in previous years, Blissfields is known for its consistently eclectic and impressive line ups, and this year is no exception. Mercury Prize winner Dizzee Rascal will headline the festival joined by indie rock band Everything Everything, whose third studio album Get to Heaven was released last year. Also returning are Blissfields favourites Dub Pistols, as well as folk poet Beans on Toast.
The Thursday of the festival is also not to be missed, with all areas open except the Main Stage. Artists will be performing from 6pm – 2am at the The Den, The Blisscotheque, the Hidden Hedge and The Larch. A separate Thursday ticket must be purchased to enter the site on the 30th of June.
The ever popular Hidden Hedge, the ultimate party in a forest, also returns to the festival this year. It’s sure to be decorated impressively to fit the festival’s House Party theme; fancy dress is optional but always encouraged!
In addition to much loved Blissfields institutions such as the Blisscotheque (a double decker bus serving cocktails and hosting DJs throughout the day and night) the festival’s organisers have announced a new area for 2016. According to legend it never rains at Blissfields, and this year revellers can head to their very own beach area, The Bay. Grab yourself an ice cream and enjoy the music and the relaxed atmosphere during the day and the summer party at night.
If you’ve been to Blissfields before, you’ll know that the food available surpasses standard festival fare. This year is set to be no exception with the introduction of The Smoke & Mirrors restaurant which offers a fine dining festival banquet experience with traditional smoked food, done with a Blissfields twist. The Smoke & Mirrors will be located on the top deck of the Blisscotheque.
Tickets for Blissfields 2016 are available on the website.
