Frank Turner will be playing Portsmouth this December, having already sold out his latest, absolutely huge UK tour. Turner has not had even a month of rest since the release of last year’s album ‘Positive Songs for Negative People’ which was released 7th August 2015.
Frank Turner has remained in the spotlight over a year after the release of his latest album: At Reading Festival 2016, the artist broke records by appearing for the 10th year in a row. This was also his 1,955th gig as a musician.
As is clear by the extensive list of previous gigs on his website’s Live Archive, Turner has played at a huge number of different venues in the UK, yet his fans are never satisfied. After the tour was announced, fans took to Twitter to protest that he wasn’t playing in their area – provoking some sassy responses from the man himself.
When one fan tweeted ‘No Australia?’, Turner responded with quick wit:
Not on the UK tour, no. https://t.co/7iphv9nCip

On the other hand, many fans are definitely satisfied since this hugely popular rockstar will be playing small town venues such as Guildford, Bexhill, Scunthorpe and of course, Portsmouth. The website announcement gave good reason for avoiding big cities such as Manchester and London:
“I know, I know, it’s been a long while since we were on home turf. And last time we toured the UK we only played the major cities. So, as is becoming tradition, this time we are hitting some different places, taking the show around the country to see some different people.”
Titled ‘Tourmageddon’ on his blog, Turner will be playing a wopping 21 different venues around Ireland and the UK.
