With the recent release of their third studio album, Gameshow, popular Irish pop-rock band Two Door Cinema Club are embarking on a World Tour this January. Their UK dates include performances in some of the country’s biggest cities, including: London, Glasgow, Bristol, and Southampton. This is their first major UK tour since 2013, coming as a welcome return for many who became dedicated supporters to the band after their first album, Tourist History in 2010.
The two principal members of the band, Trimble (on vocals) and Halliday (on lead guitar), met during their grammar school years, with Baird (on bass) meeting the pair slightly later. They first performed aged sixteen, using websites such as MySpace and YouTube to further publicise their music. The band name was created through Halliday’s mispronunciation of their local cinema, ‘Tudor Cinema’. After some of their earlier EPs, the band found fame with their debut album and an interview with NME in 2010.
Gameshow was released in October 2016 and Trimble has discussed the likes of Bowie and Prince as being hugely inspiring during the creation of their new album. NME spoke of them being ‘surreal and exciting’ at a recent preview show for the new album. This is a show not to be missed.
