Nostalgic News: ‘I Will Always Love You’ tops charts 22 years ago today


On the 5th December 1992, Whitney Houston topped the UK charts for 10 weeks with her iconic song ‘I Will Always Love You’, making it 22 years ago today.

The song, a cover of Dolly Parton’s original track, was sung by Whitney for the soundtrack of her debut film, The Bodyguard but became an instant success in the UK charts.

After an immense 10 week reign, the song had become one of the highest selling songs of all time, winning multiple awards, including the Grammy awards for Record of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female.
