Idina Menzel to perform at this year’s Superbowl


Idina Menzel has been confirmed as singing the American National Anthem, ‘Star-Spangled Banner’, at this year’s Superbowl.

America’s largest annual sporting event will take place at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, AZ on the 1st February.

FrozenWicked, and Glee star Menzel follows the likes of Diana Ross, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and Beyoncé who have all had the privilege of performing the song in the past.

2014 was a huge year for Menzel following on from the success of Frozen at the end of 2013.  Her performance of ‘Let It Go’ in the film won an Academy Award for Best Original Song, whilst she also picked up the awards for Breakthrough Voice Actress of the Year and Best Female Lead Vocal Performance in a Feature Film at the Behind the Voice Actors Awards.

Meanwhile, ‘All Of Me’ star John Legend will perform ‘America the Beautiful’ and Katy Perry will provide the highly-coveted Superbowl Half-Time Show.

Superbowl XLIX will aire on the 1st February on Channel 4 and Sky Sports.
