Game of Thrones season five world premier booked for the Tower of London

Game of Thrones season five will have its world premiere in London for the first time. Stars of the fantasy series will turn out for the event on Wednesday 18th March at the Tower of London.

With the series being known for its high death count and completely bonkers tyrant kings, it’s no surprise that the Tower of London has been chosen for the world premiere.

Sky Atlantic is also running a competition to give fans a chance to win tickets to the event, with further details to be announced soon.

Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark, recently played down suggestions of a Game of Thrones movie, saying that speculation about a big-screen outing is mere rumour: “I know there’s been rumours going round in the press [about a feature film]– but for now, I’m very much content with it being a TV show in IMAX,” said Turner. “I think that’s an achievement in itself; so why fix it if it ain’t broke?”

Recent IMAX screenings of two Game of Thrones episodes took $1.5 million at the box office from 205 playdates across the US.

Game of Thrones returns to HBO in the US on 12th April, premiering a day later on Sky Atlantic in the UK.
