This Week in Records

Post-Halloween week brings with it great things, on the album side of things at least. Grimes returns with Art Angels after sharing a sprinkling of tracks with us over the past week, including ‘Flesh Without Blood’ and ‘SCREAM’. Singles are a bit on the dry side, but we do have new music from Leona Lewis and Deerhunter.

Claire Elise Boucher, or better known as Grimes, produced and engineered all of the tracks on Art Angels herself. The single ‘REALiTi’ features, along with newest single ‘Flesh Without Blood’. Having toyed with hard drugs, this controversial artist is certainly worth a listen. Out via 4AD.

Brit School Alumnus, Jamie Woon, is releasing his debut Album Making Time following the success of Sharpness and his collaboration with Banks. With soulful vocals, and describing his music as R&B, Jamie Woon’s music has an atmospheric, sexy tone. Perfect for late night listening.  Out via PMR.

Cee Lo Green is back with his fifth studio album Heart Blanche after his most recent single ‘Forget You’. Perhaps people will forget about his twitter rape remarks back in August and buy this new record. Whilst not as catchy as ‘The Lady Killer’, Cee Lo Green’s vocals do not disappoint. Out via Atlantic Records.

‘Breaker’ is the latest release from Deerhunter’s Fading Frontier. With a lulling pace and unhurried lyrics, the track has a nostalgic tone- particularly when it comes alive with strumming guitars and a jaunty rhythm at its chorus. Out via 4AD.

Leona Lewis’ ‘Thunder’ will also be released this Friday. Taken from this year’s album, I Am, the X-Factor winner shrouds us once again in a ballad of triumph that showcases her effortlessly strong voice. Out via Island.
