Music Video Review: Coldplay – ‘Adventure Of A Lifetime’

'Adventure Of A Lifetime' oozes Coldplay's energy and enthusiasm, complete with stunning visuals and all the feel-good vibes you could possibly want.

Teased over the last few weeks, ‘Adventure Of A Lifetime’ – the first single from Coldplay’s 7th studio album A Head Full Of Dreams – finally has a video that showcases the band’s new-found energy and enthusiasm.

Set in the jungle, the video features the band prancing around as gorillas courtesy of the brilliant Andy Serkis’ exceptional digital motion capture. This encapsulates that aforementioned enthusiasm from the four-piece, with every facial expression and dance move a true likeness of them – Jonny’s gorilla alter-ego even wears his infamous hat!

One thing that I didn’t mention about the start of the video, due to it being the only blemish on a vibrant and refreshing video, is a bizarre and incredibly blatant plug for a certain portable speaker – a well-known item to find in a jungle… But even possibly the biggest music video tech plug of all time doesn’t tarnish a great video that you can tell took half a year to produce. Just like the song, the video oozes infectious happy vibes throughout (a throwback to Mylo Xyloto) and appears to set the tone for their upcoming record, of which has been heavily rumoured to be their last.

Coldplay aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but their expansive and wide-ranging musical presence over the past 15 years means that they have something for everyone. ‘Adventure Of A Lifetime’ shows off another side to them musically (even my mum likes this one!), but still encapsulating their passion and feel-good factor. You’ll miss them when they’re gone!

‘Adventure Of A Lifetime’ is available to buy now. Watch the video below.
