Next weekend sees SUSU’s The Bridge transported to the 1920’s with a night hosted by electro swing-ers Drop Dead Dandies in association with SEMSU.
From eight, Southampton’s DJing duo Andrew Ovenden and Jack Stoker (AKA Mr. Immaculate and Jack Manhattan) invite you for an evening of ‘vintage debauchery’ including performances from three musical acts and Southampton’s Circus Society.
Electro swing – which fuses retro jazz and swing styles with contemporary electronic music – is the order of the day, with well-established electro swing act Kiwistar headlining the event. Hailing from Paris, Kiwistar’s set will draw inspiration from French touch dubstep and drum & bass.
Southampton’s very own Drop Dead Dandies are not only hosting but also supporting, with a promise of a DJ set spanning big band, nu-jazz and swing-hop.
SEMSU’s Charles Charlie Charles will be opening on the night with his blend of retro tracks, incorporating soul and funk as well as jazz, blues and swing.
With a formal dress code and the promise of special cocktails, it’s an excuse to get dressed up and go to something a bit different, right on your doorstep!
Update: the competition to win tickets to this event has now closed.
You can buy tickets for £4 advance at the SUSU Box Office here and join the Facebook event here.
