Records round-up: 25/10/14 – 31/10/14

Taylor Swift will release her album 1989 next week, which delivers a much more prominent pop sound. Elsewhere in the round-up, Hampshire-born Alexa Goddard releases her most recent single under the wing of Jay-Z, entitled ‘So There’, and the ninth volume of BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge will be released on Monday.

Taylor Swift – 1989

Taylor-Swift-1989-Deluxe-2014-1200x1200Although only 24, Taylor Swift is releasing her fifth album next week, a follow-up to the global success Red, which spawned the likes of ’22’ and ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’. The new album is entitled 1989, the year that she was born, and has the lead single ‘Shake It Off’, which has also become a hit around the world. Promising more of a pop sound rather than the country tone the rest of the album took, 1989 is likely to assert Swift as a key figure in the powerful female artists that dominate the music scene. Listen to ‘Shake It Off’ below, and buy the album next week when it hits the shelves.
