A new trailer has been unveiled for BBC Drama which is fronted by Benedict Cumberbatch. Cumberbatch recorded Shakespeare’s ‘All the World’s a Stage’ monologue for the trailer, taken from As You Like It, which adopted an omniscience presence throughout the clip. The trailed aired before the new drama, The Missing, which aired last night (28th October) at 9pm.
The promotional material features moments from BBC dramas of the past, current ones as well as upcoming shows.
Past dramas referenced in the trailer include Pride and Prejudice, Criminal Justice, Life on Mars, House of Cards, Spooks. As well as these, other dramas such as Doctor Who, Happy Valley, Sherlock, Luther and Call the Midwife star in parts of the trailer.
BBC have also teased with upcoming dramas, such as the highly-anticipated adaptation of JK Rowling’s first adult novel, The Casual Vacancy, which stars the likes of Michael Gambon and Julia McKenzie. Other dramas to take place in the future on BBC include Esio Trot which sees Judi Dench star alongside Dustin Hoffman, Wolf Hall, Banished and many others.

Who better than Benedict Cumberbatch to narrate this special film that showcases the BBC’s unique role in nurturing talent and its powerful storytelling from the past, present and future.”
