The Muppets, written by and Starring Jason Segel, is a lovingly nostalgic continuation of the legendary puppet (sorry, muppet) based franchise. The Muppets haven’t been on our screens since…. well, some time not long after Treasure Island, which was in the 90s, so it was high time they came roaring back with a triumphant comeback. This qualifies as exactly that.
The Muppets is funny as hell, like, seriously funny. Hilarious would be the word I’d use actually. I was in fits of laughter for much of the film, even after the fifth or sixth time of watching. The quality of the writing from Segel and co is damn near perfect, and fits the Muppets’ whacky, rapid fire rapport like a glove, and the songs contributed by Brett MacKenzie are so good that they won him an Oscar! This may be the best reboot ever of anything in the history of everything. I love it.
The Muppets (2011), directed by James Bobin, is released on blu-ray disc and DVD in the UK by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, Certificate U.
