After the release of her phenomenal second album Tough Love, Jessie Ware announced a small set of tour dates late last year, which comes as part of the larger Tough Love tour. Brixton Academy will play host for both London dates – the 29th and 30th of January.
Prior to the release of any solo work, Jessie performed backing vocals both live and recorded for an impressive collection of artists, including; Jack Peñate, SBTRKT, and Florence and the Machine. In 2012, Jessie released her debut album Devotion, which received critical acclaim along with widespread support, peaking at number five in the UK Album Chart, and was nominated for a scattering of awards including the highly coveted Mercury Prize. Ware’s latest offering, Tough Love, shows a solidification of her enormous talent and a new sense of confidence – “Jessie’s got a lot to be proud of on [Tough Love]– but more than a musical evolution, this also marks the beginning of Jessie Ware – not the backing singer or the club-track vocalist or the girl done good – but the star.” From collaborations with Ed Sheeran and input from Sam Smith and Julio Bashmore, to name just a few, it is not hard to believe that her second album placed at number nine in the UK Album Charts on its initial release.
Following the mini January UK tour, Jessie will embark on a worldwide tour, including most of Europe, the US and Canada. Amazing things are to be expected from this series of gigs, for the beginning of what is certain to be a hugely successful and popular tour for Tough Love and the incredible Jessie Ware! There are reports of two separate support acts for the London shows. With the soul-come-electronica Dornik on the 29th, and excitingly Jack Garratt on the 30th (one to watch) – but this is yet to be confirmed.
Both dates for Brixton are now sold out – but you can find tickets to dates in Belfast, Leeds and Bristol here, or she has recently announced an appearance at Isle of Wight festival if that tickles your fancy…
