Following a string of small-scale shows at the end of 2016, Oxford singer-songwriter Lewis Watson is back and heading out on a full UK tour this March. Featuring a date at The Wedgewood Rooms in Portsmouth on 21st March, Lewis’ gigs are taking place in anticipation of the release of his second album, ‘midnight’.
Beginning his musical career by uploading covers and original songs to his YouTube channel ‘HolyLoowis’, Watson has produced a number of EPs, including his 2012 debut release ‘It’s Got Four Sad Songs On It BTW’ which went straight to number 1 in the singer-songwriter charts and ultimately led to him signing a major record deal with Warner Bros. Records. Since then he’s supported the likes of Lianne La Havas, Gabrielle Aplin and Oh Wonder on tour and brought out his debut album ‘the morning’ in the summer of 2014.
After a hiatus from the musical limelight, last year Lewis began releasing tracks from his forthcoming second LP, ‘midnight’, set to be released on 24th March. There is a notable transition in the sound from that of his first record, with tracks ‘little light’ and ‘maybe we’re home’ being a lot heavier than his previously stripped back acoustic songs so it will be exciting to see how this new style translates onto the stage.
Tickets for Lewis Watson’s gig at The Wedgwood Rooms on 21st March and the rest of his UK tour are available here.
